Australia Day International Challenge

 

Australia V's ROW

Sunday 26th January 2020 Social Bowls was replaced with an Australia versus Rest Of the World International Challenge.

 

With a total of 51 players, we had 7 rinks on the go. This was a fantastic turn-out on a hot sunny day – thanks to everyone that came and enjoyed a fun afternoon of bowling with a little bit of music – sorry it wasn’t loud enough Nancy!  Will figure it out for next time.

 

The winners were ROW – 120/85 (4 ½ rinks ROW and 2 ½ rinks Australia)

 

Winner:  Brian Vandervelde and his team of Marilyn Thorp, Jim Bryce and Mike Wyndham (29/4)

 

2nd place:  Barb Lord and her team of Gina Caldwell, Glenda Pickford and David Jackson (26/9)

 

Best Australian team:  Kerry Stewart and her team of Kim Oakley and Joanne Nelligan (22/11)

Sunday mixed social bowls

 

Social Bowls Sunday 9 February 2020


We had 21 players today enjoying the sunny but extremely windy conditions which made for some interesting and challenging decisions as to which direction to play.   Some bowls even had minds of their own or were collected by the wind and taken away. 


We played 18 ends with teams of one 4 x3, one 3 x 3 and one 4 x 4.   Games were close for a while but then the winner emerged with a win of 19 to 6:

Skip                Barb Lord


The other two games were close with scores of 19 to 16 and 18 to 6.

Sunday Social bowls for January to March is 3.00 for 3.30 pm.

Friday Twilight mixed social bowls has changed to Wednesdays

 


Wednesday twilight bowls is 6.00 for 6.30. Mufti. Cost : $8.00 green fee ($6 green fees and $2 towards cost of running lights). Changes to Wednesday Twilight bowls from Feb 5 until Mar 25.
